Theragun G3Pro Review: Is It Really Worth The Price? We Find Out
TheraGun have created what they call the world’s most advanced percussive therapy device’ in the G3Pro, a superb handheld massager that brings features galore and exceptional performance. The TheraGun G3Pro is the brainchild of world-famous chiropractor Dr. Jason Wersland. It was born out of necessity, as he was suffering from a lot of pain after a serious motorcycle accident, and wanted to create a device that could bring himself relief. It worked, and he quite literally changed his life, and has done the same for many others. This was in 2007, and since then the product has evolved into the G3Pro model, a favorite among many today.
The Theragun exudes the kind of quality you’d expect from a state-of-the-art vibration massager. Its uniqueness lies in its customizability and power, and it is these two traits that make the G3Pro the percussive massager of choice for professional athletes, chiropractors, and physical therapists. This Theragun G3Pro review explores all that this device has to offer, and explains why some experts consider it the best percussive therapy massage gun out there.

1. Superior Build Quality
From the moment you set your eyes on the TheraGun G3Pro, you can tell that its build quality is exceptional. It looks and feels solid. There are no obvious design flaws and poorly implemented features; everything fits perfectly.
The ergonomic design and the maximum force (60lbs) of the percussive massager is a testament to its superior manufacturing. It packs quite a punch when it comes to features. Users get different speed settings and unique battery setup, to mention a few.
To show how confident you should be in the G3 Pro, TheraGun issues a 2-year limited warranty for every device.
2. 2-Speed Functionality
The Theragun G3Pro comes with two-speed settings: standard, which delivers about 40 PPS, and sensitive, which is restricted to a maximum of 29 PPS.
You are able to get significantly more done using the same massager because of this. You can treat muscle issues like carpal tunnel and loosen knots with powerful vibrations, or choose the slower speed to treat tissue damage or for an easier, less aggressive massage (most people find the slower speed more than sufficient – the faster 40 PPS can get uncomfortable!)
The G3Pro is ideal for muscular ailments of all kinds and it’s good to be able to adjust it back and forth between the two settings to suit your current needs.
3. 4 Adjustable Arm Angles
Strangely enough, there hasn’t been a lot said about TheraGun G3Pro’s unique massage arm, which is not as common as you’d think. It can be adjusted into four angles: 90 degrees, 67.5 degrees, 45 degrees, and 22.5 degrees. This gives it greater access to hard-to-reach areas like behind the knee and the spine.
It’s a different experience whether you’re warming up before a workout or treating your muscles after one. You’ll notice that you have significantly more control over how you massage each muscle group thanks to the adjustable arm.
4. Ergonomic Multi-Grip
The multi-grip handle on the G3Pro is another thing to get excited about. It’s called a multi-grip because its triangular design allows users to hold one of the three sides during massages.
Each of these grips is ergonomically built and comfortable to use even for long periods of time.
5. Swappable Batteries
The G3Pro comes with two lithium-ion batteries out of the box. Both have around 75 minutes worth of battery life each. They are interchangeable so you can get a maximum of 150 minutes of continuous use out of the percussive massager if you charge both batteries beforehand.
Given that it takes just 30 seconds to treat every muscle group with the G3Pro, 150 minutes is plenty of time to give your muscles the therapy they need. Take it with you to the gym or training room, and you’ll easily have plenty of juice to see you through each session.
TheraGun Benefits – What Does It Do?
Why is the G3 Pro considered one of the best percussive massagers out there?
Well, for starters, it is built extremely well and equipped with all the features a percussive massager should have. Still, it’s easy to wonder, “what are the benefits of using this particular handheld massager?”
Quicker muscle recovery
It takes just half a minute to treat a muscle group using the TheraGun G3Pro. This means you can target all the major muscle groups after your workout in less than 5 minutes, and is great for dealing with soreness.
Its superior performance gives you one of the quickest muscle recovery periods out there, and the ability to boost performance, agility, and coordination in no time.
Highly effective post-workout myofascial release
The Theragun is capable of a maximum force of 60 pounds. This is more than plenty to undo knots, cramps, and spasms, as well as provide deep myofascial therapy. Every muscle group can be catered for individually, too, because the G3Pro comes with 6 attachment heads designed for different parts of the body.
Pill-free treatment for skeletomuscular ailments
An industrial motor that’s capable of delivering up to 60 pounds of force using attachments designed to target specific muscle groups is capable of treating a wide range of exercise-induced ailments.
The Theragun is good for dealing with conditions ranging from carpal tunnel cramping and spasms, all of which it accomplishes without stalling in the least.

What attachments are included?
The G3Pro comes with a total of six hard foam attachments, each of which will come in handy when dealing with various muscle groups.
- The first is the standard ball attachment. It is the most versatile attachment, and it can be used for general muscular and deep tissue therapy.
- Next, there’s the large ball attachment. This is designed for larger muscle groups such as quads and glutes (leg muscles). It’s also good for hip muscles.
- The third head is the cone attachment. Its purpose is to deliver pinpoint treatment to specific muscle groups.
- The thumb attachment is explicitly designed to help you target muscles in the lower back region. Professionals favor it for trigger point muscle therapy.
- There is also a dampener attachment, which is designed for use on tender areas such as on muscles that sit next to bones.
- Finally, there’s the wedge attachment. The wedge is designed to help you massage areas like your IT bands and shoulder blades.
TheraGun G3Pro vs G3
How does the G3Pro compare to their cheaper model, the Theragun G3?
You’d be hard-pressed to distinguish between the Theragun G3 and the G3Pro if all you had to go by was the shape and design of the percussive massager. They look almost the same. Both have the adjustable arm as well as the ergonomic multi-grip.
G3Pro has more attachments
The G3Pro comes out trumps when its attachments are compared to those that come with the G3. It has six of them, including the standard ball attachment, while the G3 only has four. Is it a big difference? It would certainly feel like it to someone who’s used to certain attachments.
Theragun G3Pro delivers more force
The G3Pro delivers around 60 pounds of force maximum. The G3, on the other hand, maxes out at 40 pounds. Both have the same 16mm amplitude (stroke depth). So the Pro model will certainly be capable of a more aggressive massage, although that’s not something everyone will want.
G3 is more affordable
The G3PRO costs approximately $200 more. It makes sense seeing that it has more advanced features and about 20 pounds more of force, but is it worth paying that much extra? That depends on the user and the features that are important to them. For some, it will be.
Lastly, the battery life is longer on the G3Pro (150 mins vs 60 mins) simply because they give you two different batteries – just swap one out while you use the other. The G3’s battery is built-in and not removable, so will need to be charged more often.
Who Is It Suitable For?
The TheraGun is a professional device. It is built exceptionally well and is packed with a lot of useful features. It also works rather quickly, so the professional athlete or celebrity with little downtime to spare will appreciate how quickly it allows them to tune their muscles. Many physiotherapists and massage therapists use this model on their clients. That’s not to say that ordinary users won’t find any value in it. With the level of customization it offers, anyone can comfortably use the G3Pro and many gym users and fitness enthusiasts are turning to this massager to get pain relief from sore muscles and get a really good deep tissue massage. It’s not a complex device to master either. Controls are straightforward, and the design is quite user-friendly.
- Stall force is an impressive 60lbs (this is the amount of force you can use with the tool before it stalls – it won’t stall!)
- Two-speed functionality (1750 and 2400 RPMS (revolutions per minute)
- Comes with six different foam attachments
- Equipped with two swappable batteries. Each lasts 75 minutes so when once if finished, put it on to charge while the other is in use.
- Has a carry case for easy portability if you want to travel with your device. Take it to the gym, office, or even on holidays with you. There’s no excuse not to use this on a daily basis if necessary.
- It’s expensive compared to its competitors. The second most popular massage gun that we’ve reviewed (the Hypervolt) costs quite a bit less as do many other similar products. If it’s out of your price range you might want to check out the Theragun G3 (see our G3 vs G3Pro comparison)
- It’s certainly quieter than the previous Theragun G2Pro that came before it, but some people may still find it quite loud at approximately 70-75 dB if they need to use it around the neck or shoulder area. In case you’re wondering, 70dB is comparable to the sound level of a vacuum cleaner. Most people won’t find this level of noise disturbing, but if you do, there are quieter products on the market.
The TheraGun G3Pro is not a device that disappoints. It stands up very well against the competition and outshines most. This is however, reflected in the price as it costs more than most other similar devices on the market, so if you want one of these it’s not the cheapest of fitness tools on the market.
This is a premium product with numerous positive reviews from people who once they’ve used it, wouldn’t want to live without their Theragun (see reviews on Amazon) It’s also the percussive massager of choice for many professional athletes, physiotherapists, sports teams and celebrities.
Whether it is power, ergonomics, features, or attachments and accessories you’re after, the G3Pro has them all in spades. This is a device that is well built, and designed to last – even with rigorous daily use.
If you can shell out what the company is asking for (which some consumers might find a bit steep), then the G3Pro is the only percussive massager you will ever need and is well worth the investment. If you’re looking for something a bit more affordable, you should check out the cheaper G3 model or Theragun alternatives – they might not pack quite the same punch (power or features), but there some other great massagers available too.
