2021 Update

Unfortunately our top pick in this article, the Pulse FX, is no longer available for sale . Instead, we highly recommend checking out either the Theragun PRO OR the Ekrin B37s (not mentioned in this comparison), but a fantastic new alternative that is just as good (if not better) than the original Pulse FX. In this article we're going to compare 3 of the most popular massage guns in 2021 - the Lifepro Pulse FX vs Theragun vs Kraftgun.

The Theragun is best known for being the first massage gun (as we know it) on the market. It's one of the most expensive available and is popular with professional sports teams and athletes the world over. It has evolved over the years into what is now their top end massager - the new 4th gen Theragun PRO released in 2020.

Kraftgun hit the market with a bang in 2019 and is well known due to its aggressive marketing campaigns (if you've ever looked for a massage gun you've probably been inundated with ads for the Kraftgun!).

Lifepro Fitness is a popular up and coming fitness brand that brings us a range of different massage guns including their 5 star rated Pulse FX.

If you want one of the best on the market, any of these 3 might fit the bill. We've tested them all and found that they're very similar in both features and functionality. You'd almost certainly enjoy the results you'd get from any of these massagers.

So which one should you choose?

There are some differences you might want to take into consideration.

Here's a quick side by side comparison:

This table shows the main features and specs for all 3 massage guns so that you can compare them side by side. Read on below for our take on which is the best (maybe you can guess from looking at the table!)

Pulse FX vs Kraftgun - Are they the same product?

First of all let's take a look at the Pulse FX vs Kraftgun. If you looked at the table closely, you might have noticed there are VERY little differences between the two. Stall force, amplitude and even the product weight are exactly the same. If you look at the two products side by side, they even LOOK the same.

Could it be that they're actually the same product just with different branding? Possibly. This does happen quite a lot, particularly with really popular products. It doesn't take away from the fact that they're both really high quality, durable and effective massage guns.

There are some differences though, and we find that there's a clear winner. Here's a list:

  • Both have 3 speeds but the Pulse FX has a top speed of 3000 RPM and the Kraftgun a top speed of 2400 RPM
  • The Pulse FX comes with a charging stand/dock but the Kraftgun does not
  • The Pulse FX includes 1 extra attachment head, "the Absorber" -  designed for general use and treatment around bony or tender areas
  • 2 year warranty from Kraftgun is good, but it can't beat Lifepro's LIFETIME warranty!
  • This is a big one - unfortunately Kraftgun have a 7-9 week delay with their shipping (which is a problem that has been going on for a while now). There has been some issues with customer service too because of this. Lifepro ship immediately so you should get the Pulse FX within 5-7 working days.

It's not difficult to see which is the better product here. Would you really want to wait 7-9 weeks for a Kraftgun? Or longer? The Pulse FX also has some other nice benefits like a free charging dock included, a faster top speed, an extra attachment head, and of course a lifetime warranty. I know where I'd put my money!

Pulse FX vs Theragun PRO - Which is better?

So we can see the Pulse FX pips the Kraftgun to the post, but what about the "gold standard" of massage guns - the new 2020 Theragun PRO? Is the Theragun really worth paying extra for? Let's find out!

theragun pro
  • We already mentioned the Theragun is more expensive, but did you know it's actually TWICE the price? There probably will be an offer on Black Friday (there was last year), but for the rest of the year it costs $599.
  • Theragun's stall force is slightly less that the Pulse FX's, but we didn't find that made a noticeable difference seeing as you're unlikely to hit your muscles with 60lbs of force anyway (Ouch!)
  • The new Theragun has 5 app customizable speeds whereas the Pulse has 3 (but higher RPM).
  • Theragun is quite a bit heavier at 3lbs vs Pulse Fx's 2.2lbs. The lighter weight gun tends to be easier to use for a wider range of people (particularly if you've got wrist problems or aren't very strong)
  • The PRO's swappable batteries (with 5 total usage hours) means you'll never run out of power because you can charge one while the other is in use. Perfect for professional users who need an all day run time. The Pulse FX still offers a very decent 3-7 hours (depending on which speed levels you use).
  • Theragun PRO doesn't include a charging stand and they actually charge $79 extra if you want to buy one. Lifeprofitness include one for free!
  • The PRO is the ONLY massage gun (right now) with smart app integration and Bluetooth connectivity. You can download the Therabody app on the App store or Google Play store. The massager has 3 built in app guided preset routines to get you started. The app also integrates with Samsung Health, Google Fit and Apple Heath to customize routines for you based on your activity.
  • Lifepro's lifetime warranty can't be beaten unfortunately, although Theragun offers an impressive 2 years.

Deciding between the two of these is a hard call! They certainly both have their advantages. Click on the button to check out the PRO or read on for our verdict.

Lifepro Pulse FX vs Theragun vs Kraftgun - what the final verdict?

We thought it'd be difficult to compare all 3 massage guns because if you actually use them, you won't FEEL there's much of a difference in how they work. They're all capable of giving a really premium, DEEP muscle massage and they're all well made, excellent quality massagers that should last through years of regular usage and plenty of wear and tear.

You don't have to be a pro athlete or fitness buff to get the benefits either - many massage gun users are just ordinary people who want relief from just regular aches and pains that we all get from time to time. A massage gun can work for anyone, with any kind of muscle problems.

When it came down to the details though, we narrowed it down to just two out the three products. Personally we'd give the Kraftgun a miss at the moment until they've got their shipping times sorted - people buy massagers because they want to use them NOW - not in a few months time! Kraftgun are also missing some of the things that make the other two products stand out.

So it's between the Lifepro Pulse FX and the Theragun PRO!

The Theragun has many great features and is a powerful product that is even suitable for commercial use. In fact if you're using it as a professional in a commercial setting or as a professional sports person or athlete - this is the one we'd go for. The swappable batteries, new QX150 Motor with QuietForce Technology™ (which is 50% quieter than earlier models), and the app with Bluetooth connectivity are a big plus.

It's an expensive investment though. And so for the ordinary home user - whether you're a fitness enthusiast or not, we'd have to choose the Lifepro Pulse FX. True, it doesn't have bluetooth (which is definitely a nice added extra), but it's just as powerful a massager with the same speed, stall force and amplitude. It's half the price though which makes it more affordable for a wider range of users. And of course the lifetime guarantee is another bonus.

Lifepro Pulse FX is the Winner!

Although they have their similarities, if you compare them closely like we have, you'll see that the Lifepro's Pulse FX is an excellent investment either for yourself or as a gift for a loved one. Plus you can't go wrong with a lifetime warranty.

If you can afford it though and you really want to experience the smart app integration with Bluetooth, you should check out the Theragun PRO too!
