Chirp Wheel Review (Formerly Plexus Wheel): Does It Really Work?

I first came across the already very successful Chirp Wheel on a Shark Tank rerun, and my interest was piqued when I saw that the founders actually got a rather significant deal. The program, which sees entrepreneurs from around the world pitch their business models to a panel of potential investors, finished with TV personality and inventor Lori Greiner investing $900k in the Tate Stock invention for a 2.5% equity share.

I think most people have suffered from some degree of back pain at some point (I certainly have!), so I can see why a “gadget” with such a simple premise could become wildly popular. Chirp is basically a wheel that is designed to fit between the shoulder blades and gives a deep, targetted stretch to the muscles surrounding the spine. This releases tension in the muscles and relieves pain. Sounds good? Yep, and it’s pretty affordable too.

But is it really THAT good?

I’m not sure there’s any such thing as a “miracle product” when it comes to back pain relief. But I sure wouldn’t mind investing in a great product that offers SOME relief, and so I decided to test it out for myself. This Chirp Wheel review is based on my own experience as well as the many other customer reviews I researched before I got on board.

As you can imagine, Chirp certainly haven’t struggled for sales during the pandemic – a time when chiropractors and physiotherapists were shut and people were left to deal with back pain problems from home. The pandemic has only boosted their exponential growth.

Have you or a loved one suffered from back pain?

An incredible fifty percent of all Americans admit to suffering from symptoms of back pain each year. Not only does the individual suffer, but the economy also takes a dent as all those casualties account for more than 264 million lost working days every year. That’s two full workdays for every full-time worker in the US.

Osteoporosis affects ten million Americans while another forty-four million have a low bone density, which puts them into a high-risk bracket. It doesn’t end there. Twenty-three percent of all American adults have arthritis, that’s fifty-four million people. One in four of those adults report severe pain from this deliberating disease, and over twenty-four million adults are limited in their activities because of it.

In an ideal world, nobody would have arthritis, back pain, or suffer from osteoporosis. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a perfect world. Still, we do live in one where we can help reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis in the future and relieve back pain and the symptoms of arthritis with exercise.

The Chirp Wheel

Weight training, strength training, walking, pilates, and swimming are just some of the many ways to help with some of the medical issues mentioned. The trouble is, some of these types of exercise may take up too much time or may require equipment people don’t have or have no room to store.

The Plexus Wheel can deal with these issues and more. Although you can choose one wheel depending on your needs, there are actually 3 different sizes – 12 inch, 10 inch, and 6 inch, allowing you to apply different pressure levels. The smaller the wheel, the easier it is to target specific areas. Most people purchase the 3 pack as you might need different wheels at different stages of treatment.

The wheels are small, making them easy to store, and durable, meaning they will stand the test of time. They are also straightforward and completely safe to use, making Chirp an ideal exercise companion to fight back pain and other medical issues relating to the joints.

How To Use The Chirp Wheel

The secret to the success of the Chirp Wheel is certainly its shape. The wheel shape ensures it fits perfectly between the shoulder blades to provide a deep tissue massage to the muscles around the spine. This can give almost instant back pain relief and can help you target both the upper back and lower back depending on what part is giving the most trouble.

The following Chirp Wheel video shows exactly how to use the Chirp wheel – it’s only about 2 minutes (that’s how easy it is) so it’s well worth watching if you’re thinking of trying it:

You can use the Chirp in a number of different ways, allowing you the opportunity to work other parts of your body, including the shoulders, sides, core muscles, and even correct bad posture. Below you can read some of the ways in which the Chirp Wheel can be used, and also, there’s a brief description of what you can expect to achieve from carrying out the individual exercises. Once you buy though there are plenty of free video tutorials available to show you how to get the best results from the different sizes of Plexus wheel.

Basic Stretches

Basic stretching should be your first port of call when first using the Chirp Wheel. They will allow you to get used to the wheel before moving on to the more advanced exercises.

  • You begin these stretches by sitting down and planting your feet firmly on the ground while bending your knees. You now have to place the wheel behind your back and relax while holding onto it, and when you’re ready, you can move onto the next stage.
  • With your feet in the same position, rest your upper back on the Chirp Wheel, so it’s sitting comfortably between the shoulder blades. While still holding onto the wheel for support or resting your hands on the floor for balance, raise your glutes off the floor. When you feel ready, begin to roll back and forth on the wheel by walking yourself backward and forwards by bending your knees. This will relieve tension and improve posture as it applies pressure to the areas of your back that need it.

Posture corrector

The Chirp Wheel is an ideal piece of exercise equipment for reinforcing the natural curvature in the spine because its size allows it to sit perfectly in the small of your back while you’re sitting down.

Loosen tight muscles and relieve knots

Your legs and hips can also greatly benefit from the use of the Chirp Wheel. You can loosen the tight muscles in these regions by merely placing the rubber wheel under the appropriate part of the body, such as your thigh, and start to massage it by moving your body back and forth over the Chirp Wheel.

The Chirp Wheel can improve strength and flexibility by stretching and massaging the thoracic and lumbar region muscles. Not only that, but they also help provide balance and strengthen the muscles around the spine, which in turn helps to support the discs.

What is the Chirp Wheel weight limit?

The Chirp Wheel has a weight limit of up to 500 lbs. The wheels are made from high-quality materials and have an injection molded rigid core. They are strong and durable enough for most adults to use.

Is there a cheaper Chirp Wheel alternative?

While the Chirp wheels are good value and not hugely expensive some people might still seek a cheaper Chirp wheel alternative. The closest things to a Chirp Wheel in terms of functionality are the yoga wheel or foam roller. Yes, they are cheaper, but they definitely don’t work quite the same or give the same results.

Chirp Wheel vs Foam Roller

A foam roller can be a great way to give your muscles some love after a workout. Using this to roll your muscles can relieve tension, tightness, soreness and inflammation. A foam roller is also considerably cheaper. However, the design of the Chirp Wheel is far more effective in stretching the upper back if you want to apply pressure directly to either side of the spine. Certain areas of the back are just hard to target with foam roller.

Chirp Wheel vs Yoga Wheel

The Yoga Wheel might look the same as the Chirp Wheel, and of course its cheaper too. However, there is one major difference. The Chirp has a patented spinal canal groove and compression sensitive padding. This means your spine isn’t pressing into the wheel while you roll and stretch, which can cause even more discomfort.  The Chirp is also the only wheel that is FDA-Registered as a Class 1 Medical Device . For this reason, the Chirp Wheel is far superior (and safer) for deep tissue rehabilitation and stretching of the lower back and upper back.

Pros and Cons

  • Recommended by chiropractors and physical therapists
  • Easy to use with a really simple design
  • Affordable – you can buy 1 wheel or get a special offer on all 3
  • Immediate results
  • Easy to store

  • Some users may find it tricky to balance on the larger wheel at first.
  • Not as wide as a foam roller but fits snugly between the shoulder blades.

Which Chirp Wheel Should I Get?

As already mentioned, the wheel comes in three sizes – 12 inch, 10 inch and 6 inch wheel. I recommend getting the 3 wheel pack rather than just a single wheel. For one, it’s alot cheaper to do that (plus there’s a free posture corrector, muscle cream etc included).

Also, it’s hard to tell which of the three different wheel sizes will suit you the best. I found that at different stages of my back treatment I got best results from using three different sizes. One day the 12 inch might work the best, and as things improve you might need to downgrade to the 10 inch or the 6 inch.

Is there a Chirp Wheel discount code available?

Keep away from all those coupon code sites because most are offering fake coupons to get you to click on their links. The best place to buy the Chirp Wheel is on the official website, and there are special offers there already without having to enter a discount code.

While you could buy each of the Chirp Wheels separately, they’re pretty expensive like that (costing from $45-$65 for a single wheel.

The 3 pack is much more economical and is currently reduced from $165 to just $99. That includes the 3 wheels, FREE posture corrector, FREE Relieviate muscle cream, Chirp Wheel video tutorial, and access to Remey (a FREE month of online physical therapy to get even better results with your Chirp Wheels).

You can get the Chirp Wheel on Amazon too (but without the FREE bonuses that you get on the official website).

As mentioned at the beginning, back pain has such a knock-on effect in society. Not only can it be excruciating, but it can also cause severe financial hardship if it causes you to take long periods of time off work.

The Chirp Wheel is not only easy to store, but it’s also very affordable, and it doesn’t take long at all before you start seeing results. A small price to pay, considering it can give you a real deep tissue massage for tangible pain relief.

Chirp - Plexus Wheel Plus

In my opinion, the Chirp Wheel 3 pack is an excellent investment. The 3 different wheel sizes which allow you to apply varying levels of pressure while you stretch make it a product that will suit almost anyone. It’s easy to use, with plenty of videos available to show you how to get the best results from it. And with a weight limit of 500 lbs its pretty strong too. Plus there’s a 100% money back guarantee in case you find it doesn’t suit. You have 60 days in which to return the products if you don’t love the results (they do recommend you try Chirp properly for at least 30 days first).
